As We Begin Our Day

Good morning, dear friends!

How do you start your day? With coffee/tea, food, exercise, prayer?

If we are half-way organized, you and I both have a to-do list for today. The most vital activity on my list is talking to my Lord. So many styles of prayer—singing, chit-chat, formal conversation, reading from a prayer book. I'm confident our Lord is pleased with any type of sincere worship we use.

Think of how He speaks to us—reading His Word-the Bible, promptings of the Holy Spirit to our spirit, conversing with a godly friend or pastor.

The most amazing written prayer I have found is this one used by John Wesley in the 1700's. He did not actually write this prayer, but he used it in his devotions. I challenge you to thoughtfully read this prayer ten times right now and be prepared for a change in your thinking and priorities in life. Oh, for the same commitment as this unknown author!
A COVENANT PRAYER
used by John Wesley

I am no longer my own, but Yours,
Put me to what You will,
Put me to doing, Put me to suffering,
Let me be employed for You,
or laid aside for You,
exulted for You,
or brought low for You.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things,
let me have nothing.
I freely and wholeheartedly
yield all things to
Your pleasure and disposal.
And now glorious and blessed God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
You are mine and I am Yours.
So be it.
And this covenant now made on earth,
Let it be satisfied in Heaven.
AMEN.

Amen and amen!
